As a part of the creative process, I have asked myself many different questions. Even in the face of apparent disaster, simply asking a question places a new perspective on things:
What are my available resources for a solution?
What if I were to do something out of character right now?
What if what I believe is impossible is in fact possible?
What one thing would I change?
Who could best help me right now?
What would Morgan Freeman say I did next?
Here is the question I wish I would ask more often:
“What do I need to feel happy right now?” I must tell you, when I remember to ask that question, I get some surprising answers. Sometimes the answer is, “I need a cup of tea.” This is an inner request for some nurturing and a little downtime and, when I listen, I invariably return to the project with a fresh perspective.
Honestly, you couldn’t ask yourself a better question, ever.
Don Miguel Ruiz says. “Don’t make assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.”
What do you think?
